ORANGETOWN, N.Y. -- A Tappan woman was charged Monday with felony driving while intoxicated after being stopped by Orangetown police for speeding, police said.
Valerie Popov, 32, was stopped by police after she was seen speeding on Veterans Memorial Highway, police said. Once stopped, officers said that Popov was intoxicated and failed several field sobriety test. She was transported to police headquarters where she refused to take a breathalyzer test, police said.
Popov was charged with felony DWI due to a previous DWI conviction and several traffic violations, police said. She is due to appear in Orangetown Town Court on Tuesday, March 15, according to police.
