Orangetown Police Charge NJ Man With Forgery, Bail Jumping

BLAUVELT, N.Y. -- A 27-year-old West New York, N.J., man is facing several criminal charges following a traffic stop Thursday on Route 303 in Blauvelt in which he initially gave Orangetown police a fake identity, police said.

Tomas Popoca-Ramirez is charged with second-degree possession of a forged instrument, a felony, and misdemeanor bail jumping and false personation, police said. He also has a warrant for his arrest for third-degree possession of a forged instrument out of Orangetown, police said.

Orangetown police said he initially gave them a fake name during Thursday night's traffic stop and presented a fake driver's license. After discovering his true name, police learned of the other arrest warrant in Orangetown, police said.

He's being held in Rockland County Jail in anticipation of a future court date, police said.
