NYACK, N.Y. -- A 26-year-old local man was shot in the leg during an early morning drive-by shooting near Nyack Plaza on Sunday, Aug. 14.
Orangetown police responded to the area after receiving reports of shots being fired at a group of people from a car that was cruising by the area, said Orangetown Detective Sgt. James Sullivan.
When officers arrived they found a large crowd running from the area. They also noticed a car leaving the area and pulled it over. During the stop they found the injured man inside who told them he was heading to the hospital for treatment, police said.
The unidentified man was treated at Nyack Hospital and released.
Sullivan said the department is actively looking for witnesses and video surveillance of the event and are encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
"Anyone who comes forward will remain anonymous," Sullivan said.
