NEW PALTZ, N.Y. -- A New Jersey man is facing drug charges after he was arrested in New Paltz last week, state police said.
Alex Malinowski, 21, of Fair Lawn in Bergen County, was piloting a 2001 Mercedes Benz SUV on Route 299 in the Ulster County town on Friday, March 19, when state police pulled him over for failing to maintain his lane, police said.
The arresting officer said Malinowski had psilocybin mushrooms and marijuana in his possession.
He was charged with criminal third-degree possession of a controlled substance, a felony; and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, police said.
Malinowski was processed at the state police barracks in Ellenville and arraigned in Town of Rochester Court.
Sent to Ulster County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 secured bond, he is to appear in Town of New Paltz Court on Tuesday, March 22.
