ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A West Haverstraw man is facing charges of driving while intoxicated after he was pulled over early New Year’s Day by Orangetown police.
Stefan Martinez, 27, was stopped on Main Street in the village of Nyack around 4:25 a.m., police said.
The officer who pulled him over reported that Martinez’s breath smelled of alcohol, that his speech was slurred and his eyes were glassy.
He was given, and failed, a field sobriety test and taken to police headquarters where he submitted to a breathalyzer test, which he also failed, police said.
Martinez was charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, and unnamed traffic violations, police said.
He was released on his own recognizance and is to appear in Nyack Justice Court on Tuesday, Jan. 24, police said.
