PEARL RIVER, N.Y. – Peter Gionta, a longtime Pearl River resident, died Wednesday, Dec. 30. He was 76.
Gionta was born in Spigno, Saturnia, Italy, on Dec. 30, 1939, to Giovanni and Margherita Gionta.
He worked for 25 years for Dellwood as a milkman.
Gionta was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Marion; two daughters, Margaret and her husband Kevin Kivlehan and Barbara and her husband Kenneth DeStefano, six grandchildren; four siblings, Lena Tedesco, Nicola Gionta, Maria Pensiero and Gino Gionta; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours are Sunday, Jan.3, from noon-3 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. at Assumma-Shankey Funeral Home, 34 North Summit St., Pearl River.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Jan. 4, at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret's Church, 115 W. Central Ave., Pearl River.
Interment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery.
