NYACK, N.Y. – James E. McEnroe, a resident of Nyack, died Monday, May 23. He was 98.
Born May 29, 1917, in the Bronx, N.Y., he was the son of Edward and Margaret.
He resided in Nyack for the past 28 years and was a member of St. Ann’s RC Church. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the Battle of Okinawa and was a recipient of a Purple Heart medal.
He is survived by his wife Martha; children, James McEnroe of Nanuet, Margaret Reilly of Haverstraw, Barbara Murdy of Nyack and Patricia Monroe of Valley Cottage; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his son-in-law, James Reilly.
Visiting will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hannemann Funeral Home Inc., Nyack. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Ann’s RC Church in Nyack. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Haverstraw.
