NYACK, N.Y. -- Solarize Nyack will be hosting an educational workshop for those interested in installing a solar system for their home or small business through the Solarize Hudson Valley group-discounting program on Saturday, March 26.
The workshop, from 11a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Nyack Library, will include a presentation of the program, including financing options available, and state grants for renters and low-income home owners. The focus of the workshop is to make it easier and more affordable for residents and businesses to invest in solar power.
Launched by Gov. Andrew Cuomo in December 2014, New York’s Solarize initiative is a collaboration between the State and local communities.
Communities engaged in Solarize campaigns are able to simplify purchasing and obtain discounts for participants on solar projects. The "Solarize" initiative partners with interested residential and business communities to conduct joint purchasing agreements that help lower solar acquisition and consumer costs.
The program is aimed at helping everyone learn about solar technology, benefits, choices and financing options – together. Working with highly qualified, pre-selected installation firms and community outreach volunteers.
Representatives of the two solar installers will also be present to answer questions about solar installation and Solarize Hudson Valley -- a three-year, six-county project that partners municipalities, community organizations, and local solar installers to expand the market for solar electric energy in the Hudson Valley.
Interested residents can also sign-up for a free home assessment on the Solarize Hudson Valley website.
