Change To Orangetown Soccer Field Rules Angers Parents

ORANGETOWN, N.Y. -- A recent change in Orangetown's soccer field use policy has parents upset because their children's team might not get playing time, according to lohud.com.

The policy change, which allows the Orangetown Mighty Midgets recreational soccer program and their World Class FC travel teams to have first dibs on the soccer complex, came about recently after the Orangetown Town Board voted to lower the residency requirement for teams who get to us the town's athletic fields from 85 to 65 percent, allowing out-of-time teams to book the fields, said Lohud.com.

The issue has become a tricky one for officials who are responsible for booking the fields and the parents who say their children should be able to play on the fields they pay tax for. The Mighty Midgets league has several thousands members with about 70 percent from town and 30 percent from out-of-town, added Lohud.com.
