Happy Birthday To Pearl River's 'Blue Bloods' Actor Robert Clohessy

PEARL RIVER, N.Y. -- Happy Birthday To Pearl River native Robert Clohessy.

Clohessy, an actor, was born in the Bronx on June 10, 1957 and turns 59 on Friday.

Clohessy graduated from Pearl River High School in Pearl River, where he was a varsity football player. 

He fought in the 1975 Golden Gloves in Madison Square Garden at age 17 but elbow tendinitis ended his boxing career. 

He got interested in acting while at Rockland Community College in Suffern and was among its first graduates with a performing arts degree in 1977. The school had just launched the program in 1975.

Clohessy made a career of television and is best known for seasons 3-6 of HBO's "Oz" and the first two seasons of "Boardwalk Empire." 

He presently plays Lt. Sid Gormley on "Blue Bloods."

He also won a Best Actor award from the Independent Film Association for the 2014 film, "The Man From the City."

He lives in West Cornwall, Conn. with his wife Catherine Erhardt. They have two grown sons.
