Rockland County Calendar Helps Promote Events, Avoid Conflicts

Nonprofits and business groups planning a Rockland County event who want to ensure it doesn't conflict with another can make use of a free online tool devised by a local public relations president."One of the most challenging tasks of any organization is planning when to hold an event. There are holidays to consider, school breaks, and of course, other area events," said Risa Hoag, President of GMG Public Relations. "The second biggest challenge is promotion."

Hoag decided it was time to facilitate this process for the people of Rockland.

“I am extremely fortunate to work with many outstanding not-for-profit organizations in Rockland County as well as area business groups. It occurred to me after scheduling events only to have them fall on the same day as three others, that it was time for someone to simplify the planning process,” she said.

Hoag said she is well versed in the issues organizations face when promoting their events.

“The calendar, which is accessible to anyone through the internet, will now help agencies promote their events to a wider audience,” she added.

Hoag, the creator and co-host of The Bigger Picture radio show on WRCR 1700AM (streaming live here) will also use the calendar as a source of information to announce upcoming events. The show airs the second and fourth Tuesday of each month.

The radio show highlights entrepreneurs who give back to the community through their philanthropic efforts.

Sponsors of The Bigger Picture include Bonefish Grill, New City Chiropractic Center, Birbrower & Beldock and KLS Transportation.

The calendar is set up through Google and can be kept on anyone’s desktop and integrated with their existing Google calendar or accessed through a separate link here

The calendar can also be embedded into any website as it is at the GMG Public Relations site

Many nonprofit groups have already gained access to the calendar and have added their events, Hoag said.

Any group that did not yet receive a log in to enter their events or would like the website embed code, should contact Risa Hoag at 845-627-3000 or risa@gmgpr.com. Groups that are eligible are 501c3 organizations as well as business groups such as Chambers of Commerce.
