NYACK, N. Y. -- The wait is finally over for a skate park in Nyack.
A grand opening for the new Nyack Skate Park at Memorial Park, 53 Piermont Ave., is planned for noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. It features music, contests and giveaways.
The official ribbon-cutting will be at 1 p.m. Sponsored by Second Nature Skate Shop and several local businesses, the grand opening event includes a Best Trick Contest at 3 p.m., and refreshments.
The skate park project was handled by local resident Sarah Anderson in cooperation with local officials and members of Nyack Needs a Skatepark Committee. The group conducted fundraising to build the 5,000-square-foot concrete skate park.
