Northwest Dutchess Students Competing In National Spelling Bee

RED HOOK, N.Y. -- Two local students, Alexandra B. Snyder, 13, of Red Hook, and Shashwat Patel, 13, of Central Valley are competing at the 2016 Scripps National Spelling Bee in Maryland, reported Time Warner Cable News.

Snyder is a student Linden Avenue Middle School and has a black belt in karate, said the report.

Patel attends Monroe-Woodbury Middle School has an interest in science, specifically in the history of the earth's evolution, according to the TWC report.
