Laing Elected, Zacharzuk Unseated In Red Hook

RED HOOK, N.Y. -- Charles Laing will serve as the Village of Red Hook's newest trustee after unseating Village Trustee Steve Zacharzuk during Tuesday's election.

Laing was elected with 78 votes versus Zacharzuk with 57 votes. Challenger Brett Lipton received 18 votes and Village Trustee Jennifer Norris was re-elected with 104 votes, said Village Clerk and Treasurer Cindi Chiarella. 

Trustees are elected to serve four-year terms and are paid $8,000 annually, Chiarella said.
