Woman Charged With DWI In Red Hook Had Children In Car, Police Say

DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. - A 52-year-old woman was arrested on a felony charge on Route 9G in Dutchess County after being busted allegedly drinking and driving with children in the car, Red Hook Police said.

At approximately 12:10 a.m. on Wednesday morning, officers in the Red Hook PD conducted a traffic stop for Carmen F. Borga-Armas on Route 9G. During the subsequent investigation, it was determined that she had been operating her vehicle under the influence.

According to police, during the stop, Borga-Armas was found to be under the influence of alcohol while she was driving 5 and 6-year-old children in the car with her.

Borga-Armas was charged under Leandra’s Law with a felony count of aggravated driving under the influence with a child in the car and two counts of driving under eh influence. Police said the children were turned over to a family member and Borga-Armas was processed and released. She is due back in court later this year.
