The incident unfolded around 3:23 p.m. Monday, when the City of Poughkeepsie Police received calls reporting a shooting at S. Cherry and Church streets, said City of Poughkeepsie Police Det. Lt. Matt Clark.

Responding officers found one 28-year-old man at the scene with a gunshot wound to the head. At the same time, Vassar Hospital, called reporting another 41-year-old victim who had been brought to the hospital by private vehicle, said Clark.

The 41-year-old victim suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg. He was walking down the sidewalk and was an innocent bystander.

The 28-year-old victim suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound to the head. He is in critical condition in ICU, said Clark.
