New York State Police say they initiated a traffic stop in Dutchess County on a 2019 Toyota Camry for a violation on State Route 55 in the town of LaGrange on Wednesday, Sept. 11 around 1:30 a.m.

Further investigation revealed that the driver, identified as Carlos Rodriguez Garo, 27, of Jersey City, New Jersey, was in possession of approximately 4 grams of cocaine as well as paraphernalia commonly used to divide and measure drugs, police say.

Rodriguez Garo was arrested and charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a Class C felony, and second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.

Rodriguez Garo was arraigned before the Town of LaGrange Court and released to the supervision of Dutchess County Probation. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, Sept. 12.
