New York State Police said officers were conducting an underage drinking operation at Bethel Woods, a concert venue and museum that includes the historic farm site on which the original 1969 Woodstock music festival was held.
Police said the nine people were all arrested in parking areas outside the main venue, and charged with violations of the state's alcohol and beverage control law. All have been released on appearance tickets to face the charges in the Town of Bethel Court, police said.
Bethel Woods officials said they have a zero tolerance policy for underage drinking and they work closely with law enforcement.
"We applaud the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat underage drinking, both in this operation and at each performance," Darlene Fedun, chief executive officer, said in a statement.
The 800-acre Bethel Woods Center for the Arts was developed a few years after a 30th anniversary Woodstock concert was held. The campus includes the 37-acre farm that was the site of the original Woodstock music and arts festival.
