According to police, Jason D. Garrett, 21, was charged for breaking into the Village Restaurant in Pleasant Valley, and the Valero gas station on Main Street in Poughkeepsie on June 28.
Both businesses had been forcibly entered. Nothing was taken from the restaurant, but the cash register and cigarettes were stolen from the gas station.
An investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau led to Garrett being developed as a suspect in both burglaries and he was arrested on Wednesday, July 6, police said.
Garrett has been charged with the following by the corresponding agencies:
- Sheriff’s Office – Village Restaurant; third-degree felony burglary.
- Poughkeepsie Police Department – Valero station: third-degree felony burglary, third-degree felony criminal mischief and fourth-degree felony grand larceny.
After being processed, Garrett was arraigned in Pleasant Valley Town Court on all charges and held at the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond on the Sheriff’s Office charges, and $20,000 cash/$40,000 bond on the Poughkeepsie charges.
