Police said the investigation is continuing as the man is being evaluated at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital. It started with a 911 call Sunday about a distraught man at the house with self-inflicted stab wounds, police said.
When police arrived, the man was on the front porch, and told police that he wanted officers to shoot him and that he wanted to "end it all right now," police said. The man's father said there were also firearms at the house.
The man then went into the house and began throwing things at officers, police said. Hyde Park officers were then joined by officers from the New York State Police, Dutchess County Sheriff's Office and City of Poughkeepsie Police, as well as responders from the Hyde Park Fire Department, Northern Dutchess Paramedics and Mobile Life Support Tactical Paramedics.
After about two hours of occasional contact with the man, he finally agreed to come out of the house. Police said he had superficial wounds.See Attachment
