A 36-year-old motorist involved in a crash on Route 9 in Dutchess County was driving drunk and had a child in the car, state police said.

Troopers from the Rhinebeck barracks responded to a personal injury crash on Albany Post Road at the intersection of Mill Road in Rhinebeck on Wednesday, Dec. 20. An investigation found Ralph A. Filipowicz of Marbletown in Ulster County was driving while intoxicated and had a passenger under the age of 15, according to police.

Filipowicz was charged with aggravated driving while Intoxicated with a child (Leandra’s Law), a Class E felony.

Filipowicz was arraigned at the Hyde Park Court after his release from MidHudson Regional Hospital and released on his own recognizance.

Filipowicz is next scheduled to appear before the Rhinebeck Court on Jan. 4.
