RHINEBECK, N.J. – Wallace E. Osterhoudt, of Milan and formerly of Rhinebeck, died Friday, Dec. 11, at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck. He was 83.
He was born on his family farm in Staatsburg on Jan. 24, 1932, to Henry and Emily (nee Delaney) Osterhoudt.
Osterhoudt worked for the Archdiocese of New York, retiring in 2002. He also worked many part-time jobs, along with being a caretaker for three local cemeteries in the Rock City area for 50-plus years.
He was predeceased by his parents and a son, Wallace Jr. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; a daughter, Jocelyn Coon of Red Hook; a son, Michael, and his wife, Karen, of Red Hook; a son, David, and his wife, Kim, of New Hampshire; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday, Dec. 15, from 4-7 p.m. at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck.
