HYDE PAR, N.Y. — A longtime Hyde Park resident, Ronald M. Rothkranz Sr., died Tuesday, Aug 2. He was 83.
Rothkranz was born May 10, 1933, in Yonkers. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1956-64. He retired in 1987 after working for 36 years as a tool maker for IBM in Poughkeepsie. He enjoyed camping and boating, and he had a passion for Lake George.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathryn Rothkranz Fisher and her husband, Gary; son, Ronald Rothkranz Jr. "Bud" and his wife Terri; five grandchildren, Ronald Rothkranz III and his fiancé Cheryl Thomas, Gary Fisher Jr., Jennifer Rothkranz and her fiancé Carl O'Toole, Van Fisher and Brad Fisher; one great-grandson, Cameron O'Toole; brother, Arthur Rothkranz; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8 at Sweet's Funeral Home, Route 9, Hyde Park. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug 9 at the funeral home with Father Chuck Kramer officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at Union Cemetery in Hyde Park.
