Michael D. Purcell, 57, Longtime Rhinebeck Resident

RHINEBECK, N.Y. — Longtime Rhinebeck resident Michael D. Purcell died Tuesday, May 10. He was 57.

A native of Canada, Purcell attended Rhinebeck Schools and was trained at BOCES for food service. 

Upon graduation from Rhinebeck High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he was honorably discharged, returning home to work at Foster's Coach House for many years. 

Purcell was an active member of Grace Bible Fellowship and helped build their current location. 

He is survived by his sister Angela Sinon and brother-in-law Michael; nieces and nephews Alec, Logan, Melanie, Kayli, Jenni and Shane; a brother, Bryan Purcell; extended family in Canada; his close friends the Cirone family, the Miller family and the VanKleeks; as well as many more loving friends. 

Calling hours will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home in Rhinebeck. Military honors will begin at 6:45 p.m. 

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Grace Bible Fellowship Church on Route 9. 

Purcell will be laid to rest in the Church of the Messiah Memorial Garden at the convenience of the family.
