Evamae 'Eve' McClenahan, 84, Of Rhinebeck

RHINEBECK, N.Y. -- Evamae "Eve" McClenahan, 84, of Rhinebeck, died Oct. 11. 

She was born Sept. 23, 1932, in Kingston, the daughter of the late Burton and Esther (Kellerman) Richter. 

She was a Kingston alumni and a member of the Third Lutheran Church. She worked many years as a receptionist in her husband's optometry office. A large part of her life was working with the Caregivers of Rhinebeck, transporting community members to their doctor appointments and assisting them along the way. She also worked the voting polls in the Dutchess County area.

She is survived by her children, James G. (Nancy), Virginia Flood, Peter (Alice), Mark T., Seth (Wendy) and Tad (Annette); grandchildren, James Ryan Sr., Matthew, Sally, Kelley, Seth, Samantha, Madalyn and Kerrigan; and great-grandchildren, James Ryan Jr. and Libby. 

She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. James McClenahan. 

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Rhinebeck Cemetery.
