PLEASANT VALLEY, N.Y. – Catherine Mary Bodin, a resident of Pleasant Valley, died Thursday, June 9. She was 93.
Born on Sept.24, 1923, in Bronxville, N.Y., she was the daughter of Henry Helliker Sloat and Estelle Veronica Wade.
She graduated from Pine Plains High School in 1941 and the Krissler Commercial School in Poughkeepsie in 1942. For years, she was an active member of the St. Stanislaus Church in Pleasant Valley; a volunteer for the Mended Hearts Club, Chapter 5; and the Vanderbilt Garden Association. She also was an active letter writer to numerous pen pals (many also born in 1923).
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Mall, and her husband, Michael, of Round Rock, Texas; her son, Richard Bodin and Anna Monroe of Wappingers Falls; her grandchildren, John Bodin (Anna Hill), Chris Bodin (Kelly Griffin), Sarah Mall Hanusch and husband Chris, Lisa Mall, and Georgia Petryszak (Jeremy Minor); her great-grandchildren: Bryce Bodin and Matthew and Angelina Petryszak; her sister, Mary Sloat Hunter, of Walter, N.Y.; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son Walter Bodin Jr.
There will be no visitation hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, June 13, at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church, Main Street, Pleasant Valley. Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
