Two Leaders Of Kiryas Joel Community Drown In Miami Beach

KIRYAS JOEL, N.Y. -- Rabbi Chaim Parnes, 66, of Kiryas Joel, a diamond dealer in Brooklyn, and Rabbi Yitzchak Rosenberg, 67, the Satmar president and United Talmudical Academy founder, drowned as a result of a rip current in Miami Beach, according to News 12.

Parnes, Rosenberg and two others were swimming in an area without lifeguards with signs that warn beachgoers to only swim in monitored areas, according to News 12.

A crowd of hundreds attended an outdoor ceremony at Kiryas Joel's main synagogue as they were buried with Rosenberg being placed next to the Satmar Grand Rebbe Joel Teitelbaum, according to News 12.
