State OKs $466M Vassar Brothers Medical Center Project In Poughkeepsie

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The state Department of Health has awarded Vassar Brothers Medical Center the approvals necessary to move forward with a $466 million project to replace many of its Poughkeepsie facilities, according to poughkeepsiejournal.com.

Officials at the medical center, Health Quest's flagship hospital, aim to create a 696,000-square-foot, seven-level inpatient pavilion with 264 private medical/surgical patient rooms and 30 critical care rooms, according to the report.

The new facility, slated to break ground in July, also will house an emergency department and trauma center with 66 treatment rooms, public and ambulance parking, operating rooms and a cafeteria with an outdoor veranda, according to the report.
