State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli says an agreement has been made between the town of Hyde Park, Dutchess County and the New York Environmental Protection and Spill Compensation Fund to convert the space, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.
About $500,000 from the oil spill fund has already been used to clean the gas station and the surrounding area since the late 1978. The town has agreed to demolish the building at 1381 Route 9G, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.
