A registered sexual offender convicted of raping two teenage girls has reported a move into Dutchess County.

The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Dutchess residents regarding the residency of40-year-old Roger Derby, who has reported an address change to a residence on Route 22 in Amenia.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Derby a Level 3 threat, which means he is a “high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety.”

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Derby raped a 13-year-old girl and 15-year-old girl in Dutchess County in April 1999. He was convicted of second and third-degree rape in March the following year and sentenced to a term of between 16 months and four years in state prison. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Poughkeepsie City Police Department.
