HYDE PARK, N.Y. -- The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park has a new hands-on Art and Science of Brewing class.
Bachelor's degree students learn how to brew beer and incorporate local ingredients and flavors. The beers are served on the CIA campus.
The CIA opened a brewery on campus in partnership with Brooklyn Brewery.
New York was formerly known as the world's hops capital and is currently a leader in the craft brewing movement after the passage of the Farm Breweries bill of 2012.
As previously reported, there were 43 new farm breweries in New York in 2015, raising the state's number to 106.
