This unique film festival highlights women as leaders in society, illustrated through six short films by women filmmakers. The films range from animation to fictional drama and cover topics such as women’s health, motherhood, body image, aging, cultural diversity and breaking barriers.
"The Hudson Valley LUNAFEST provides a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the health and empowerment of girls and women, while providing folks with great food and camaraderie, and especially -- inspiring films," said Janet Gray, one of the event organizers.
The event benefits the Breast Cancer Fund, the national organization committed to prevention of breast cancer (and other diseases) through limiting exposures to toxic chemicals and the Eleanor Roosevelt Center at Val-Kill Girls’ Leadership Worldwide program, a summer program designed to instill in young women the skills and mindset necessary to become principled and socially conscious leaders and continue the legacy of Eleanor Roosevelt, Gray added.
All proceeds from LUNAFEST will benefit the Breast Cancer Fund and Girls’ Leadership Worldwide at ERVK. So far, LUNAFEST, which was created and funded by LUNA®, The Whole Nutrition Bar for Women®, raised more than $857,000 for Breast Cancer Fund and more than $2,100,000 for other women’s nonprofit organizations.
Tickets for LUNAFEST are $35 and must be purchased online in advance. Raffle tickets are also available for an additional fee. Click here to purchase tickets online.
