The Tigers, who defeated Section 5's Avon High School, 11-8, earlier in the day in Binghamton to win the Class C state title were escorted back to the high school by the Croton Falls fire department while dozens of fans gathered in an impromptu celebration.

North Salem advanced to the final by beating Immaculate Heart Central of Section 3 10-0 in the semifinals behind pitcher Danny Capra's 10 strikeouts.

In the final against Avon, the Tigers rode the efforts of starter Connor Mahoney and reliever J.B. Healy.

North Salem ends the year at 20-6.
