NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- Severe weather has caused North Salem High School officials to cancel graduation ceremonies planned for Monday, according to the school district.
As a result of the potential for severe weather, school officials felt it was safer to delay the ceremonies.
The commencement ceremonies will instead take place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, at the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts in Katonah, school officials said.
Gates will open Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. with extra guests tickets available, school officials added.
A line of heavy rain and potentially severe thunderstorms expected to move through the Hudson Valley Monday afternoon into the evening has resulted in a severe thunderstorm watch being issued by the National Weather Service.
The thunderstorm watch will be in effect through 8 p.m. Monday. It is possible the watch will be upgraded to a warning in parts of the area.
A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for the entire area until 4 a.m. Tuesday.
