North Salem Police Summoned To Camp Morty Incident

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – A young camper at Mountain Lakes’ Camp Morty on Friday consistently hit her head against her bed frame, causing injuries to herself. The staff summoned the North Salem Volunteer Ambulance Corps and the child was taken for treatment to Northern Westchester Hospital, accompanied by staff leader Christine Gavin. North Salem Police Officer Michael Castellano assisted the ambulance corps and notified the Westchester County Police Department.

The following incidents were also reported by North Salem Police:

Crash After Near Collision: Two cars nearly collided as they approached each other on a narrow, hilly section of Nash Road on July 15. The westbound car swerved to the right to avoid the accident and hit a large rock, and the vehicle overturned, deploying the airbags and damaging the entire right side of the car, a 1999 Mercedes. The eastbound vehicle was undamaged. There were no physical injuries.

Lightning Strike: The Croton Falls Fire Department responded to a home on Lakeview Road, struck by lightning on Tuesday. The North Salem Police were also on the scene, in addition to the New York State Police, the Brewster Fire Department and the Goldens Bridge Fire Department. 

Fireworks Complaint: Residents near Peach Lake complained of hearing fireworks late Friday night. Officer Paul Smith interviewed a Lake Street resident who said that the party had left the area and assured the officer that the incident would not happen again.
