Man Found Naked Inside Newtown Home After Crash In Backyard, Police Say

A pair of Newtown residents came home from an outing to find a naked man walking around inside their home over the weekend.

The incident took place around 8:20 a.m., Sunday, April 14, when Newtown Police were called to a residence on Church Hill Road to investigate the report of a naked man walking around in a residence, said Newtown Police Lt. Aaron Bahamonde.

The homeowners returned to their residence after going out for about an hour and returned to find Joseph Achenbach, 35, of Watertown, walking around their house, they left the residence and called the police, Bahamonde said.

Police arrived and took Achenbach into custody without incident, he added. 

An investigation found that Achenbach crashed his vehicle into the rear yard and entered the residence through an open rear door.

Achenbach was charged with DWI, criminal trespass, reckless endangerment, and disorderly conduct.

He was being held on a $5,000 bond.
