It happened on Friday, Oct. 11 at approximately 7:20 p.m. in Huntington with her 9-year-old twin children in the vehicle, Suffolk County Police said.

Cassidy Bartasi, 49, of Huntington, was driving a 2018 Acura when she sideswiped another vehicle at the intersection of Park Avenue and Main Street and then drove away, police said.

Second Precinct officers located Bartasi in the Acura at the intersection of Park Avenue and Woodhull Road and placed her under arrest. There were no injuries. The Acura was impounded.

The twin children, a boy and a girl, were released to the custody of a family member.

Second Squad detectives charged Bartasi with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger 15 years old or younger (Leandra’s Law), leaving the scene of an accident and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

She was held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday, Oct. 12.
