19-Year-Old Exchange Student Seriously Injured After Being Struck By Vehicle On Long Island

A 19-year-old exchange student was seriously injured after being struck by a car overnight on Long Island.

It happened on Friday, Dec. 13 at approximately 10:40 p.m. in Huntington Station.

Sung Hyun Bae was walking in the middle of the roadway in front of 109 East Pulaski Road with two other pedestrians when he was struck by an eastbound 2019 Dodge sedan, Suffolk County Police said.

Bae, a Korean exchange student currently staying in Huntington Station, was transported to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow in serious condition. 

The driver of the Dodge, Thomas Lane, 21, of Huntington Station, was not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
