Support Connection provides free support services -- like counseling, support groups and other programs -- to people affected by breast and ovarian cancer.

The award is based on the large number of positive reviews the organization has received: online reviews written by volunteers, donors and clients.

People posted their personal experiences with Support Connection. For example, one woman wrote:

I've been associated with Support Connection since my cancer diagnosis and throughout continual treatment over the last four years. Their peer counselor program is outstanding. They're always available to console in the most difficult of times as well as celebrate when upbeat news comes my way. They understand what I'm going through more than anyone else in my life. ... I'm incredibly thankful for everything they've done for me and don't hesitate to recommend them to any woman facing breast, ovarian or gynecological cancer. They far exceed my expectations.

While the Top-Rated Awards run through the end of October, Support Connection was part of the first group to qualify for the year.

Being on the Top-Rated list gives donors and volunteers more confidence that this is a credible organization. The reviews by volunteers, clients and other donors show the on-the-ground results this organization has achieved.

"We are honored to receive this award again," Support Connection Executive Director Katherine Quinn said.

"We are especially pleased because it's based on reviews from the people who know us best: those who have volunteered for or donated to us and, most importantly, people who reached out to us and found the help, understanding and guidance they needed to get through some of the toughest challenges anyone can face."

Quinn added, "In 2016, Support Connection celebrated 20 years of providing free breast and ovarian cancer support services. We are proud of our accomplishments. With continued support from our donors and the community, we look forward to many more years of fulfilling this important mission."
