NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - Still no power? Here are some ideas to help you get through the outage.
If you need some pampering, take a short drive to Ridgefields Adam Broderick Salon. How about a soothing massage with a hot shower or steam bath after? The spas hours are 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Need to check your email? Stop across the street at the Danbury Road Starbucks, where the Wi-Fi is back to normal. It is open until 9:30 p.m.
Ridgefields Stop & Shop, open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., is still well stocked, although it is low on water and firewood.
The Brewster A & P is also low on firewood and water. The shelves are fairly well stocked, but the store is waiting for a container delivery to fill out the inventory.
More locally, Hygrade in Croton Falls is doing business as usual and around the corner Bella Ella is taking pizza orders almost faster than they can make them. Bella Ella has other Italian dishes on the menu, ready for take-out or eat-in.
Further up the block, the Croton Creek Steakhouse has its usual menu of steaks, beef burgers and other elegant entrees and sides.
A stop at Front Street Cellar may lift your spirits. And to refresh your hairdo, Anderson French is operating at normal hours.
The Blackboard Bistro, unfortunately, has closed its doors. The good news is that there are plans to reopen within a few weeks. The new eatery will be called the American Burger Mac and Cheese Company. It is described as a family restaurant, with all items under $10.
Primavera is open and welcoming as usual and the Shell station next door is functioning.
In a northerly direction, 121 is fully up and running but Vox, alas, is still waiting for restoration of power.
If you want it all in one package -- a sort of snowstorm one-stop shopping -- the Ambulance Corps building at 19 Daniel Rd., is offering water, dry ice, a hot shower, a warm room, a good meal and Wi-Fi. It is open from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. Sorry, no wash and blow-drys.
