NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – Dickens at the library, open gardens and an artists' reception are among this weekend's North Salem events.           

Friday, June 1

Ambulance Corps Tag Sale: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. All proceeds go to the North Salem Volunteer Ambulance Corps at this annual tag sale. The sale continues through Saturday, June 2 and takes place at 14 Daniel Road, near I-684, Exit 8, in North Salem. Call 914-438-4398 for more information.

Art Fair: 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. The North Salem Girl Scouts are sponsoring an art fair, with artwork by kids in grades K-12. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third places and for the best portrayal of the theme in each age group. The fair takes place at the North Salem Firehouse, 274 Titicus Road, North Salem. First Friday at the Aldrich: 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. You don’t have to be an art lover to enjoy the Aldrich Museum’s monthly cocktail party and docent-led tour, but you probably will be by the end of the evening. Featuring live music, cocktails, snacks and lots of good company. The fee is $10 for members, $15 for non-members. The Aldrich Museum is located at 258 Main Street, Ridgefield, CT. For further information call 203-438-0198.

Somers Relay For Life: 7 p.m. - 7 a.m. This is the night - and it only happens once a year. Relay For Life teams take turns walking/running/jogging around the track all night long to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. If you don’t want to walk, go and cheer and enjoy some of the peripheral activities. The giant event takes place at Somers Middle School, 250 Route 202, Somers.

Saturday, June 2

Submission Deadline for North Salem Photos: 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. It’s your last chance to submit photos for the upcoming juried competition, “A Day in the Life of North Salem,” sponsored by the North Salem Open Land Foundation (NSOLF). The exhibit will be on display at the Ruth Keeler Library from June 4 - 29. Submissions will be accepted at the library, 276 Titicus Road, North Salem. For more information and an entry form, visit the NSOLF website.

Family Fun Day: 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Join the Community YMCA of Northern Westchester at its Annual Family and Friends Day. There will be inflatable rides, carnival games, face painting, balloon animals, crafts, tasty food and more. The event takes place at Pequenakonack Elementary School on June Road in North Salem.

Shakespeare at the Schoolhouse: 8 p.m. The season’s final dramatic presentation at the Schoolhouse, “Twelfth Night,” will run until June 10. Performances are on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. Sunday matinees are at 3 p.m. Tickets are $33 for Thursdays and Fridays, $35 for Saturdays and Sundays. Sunday, June 3

Open Days Garden Tour: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m./6 p.m. Four spectacular local gardens will be open to the public for most of the day. The gardens include Artemis Farm, Keeler Hill Farm, Duck Hill and Perrin Garden. For tickets and/or addresses and specific opening hours, go to the Garden Conservancy website. Entry fees are $5 or less, and all proceeds benefit The Garden Conservancy.

Muscoot Farmers Market: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Fresh produce, meats, cheese, soaps, candles, honey, maple syrup, flowers, fish and delicacies from local farmers and artisans are available. The Muscoot Farmers Market will continue every Sunday through October. Muscoot Farm is on Route 100, 1½ miles south of Route 35 in Somers.

Artists' Reception at the Schoolhouse: 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. In conjunction with its current stage production of Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night,” the Schoolhouse Art Gallery will feature photo montages by Stephen Gordon and photo manipulations by Alan P. Cohen. The artists' reception is open to all. The exhibition will run through June 10. The Schoolhouse Theater is located at 3 Owens Road, Croton Falls.

Dairy Day at Muscoot: 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. The Muscoot 4H Gang will teach everyone about the farm’s dairy goats and dairy products. Children can play dairy games, too. Free. Muscoot Farm is on Route 100, 1½ miles south of Route 35 in Somers.

200 Years of Dickens: 3 p.m. The final event of the Ruth Keeler Library’s Dickens celebration will be a lecture by Ilja Wachs, Professor of Literature at Sarah Lawrence College and author of “Dickens: The Orphan Condition.” There is no charge. The Ruth Keeler Memorial Library is located at 276 Titicus Road, North Salem.
