NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- The North Salem Historical Society, Historic Preservation Commission and Town Historian Susan Thompson recently hosted a gathering to recognize the restoration of the historic Cat Ridge Cemetery.
More than 60 people attended the event.
The two-year project, spearheaded by Thompson and several volunteers, painstakingly renovated the landmark, which was originally established in 1803.
The effort included a full-scale renovation of the cemetery’s underground receiving vault.
The cemetery, which is located on Cat Ridge Road, has over 50 internments, including Revolutionary War and Civil War veterans.
