NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - At 11:50 a.m. Saturday, an elderly gentleman was parking his car in front of the North Salem post office at 60 June Road when he inadvertently hit the gas rather than the brake, said North Salem Police Officer Joe Olenik.
The car jumped the curb and pushed into the front of the post office, knocking over the mailbox and breaking the glass window, Olenik said.
The post office, which was scheduled to close to the public at noon, closed early.
No one was hurt in the incident.
