April Support Groups Set For Women With Cancer In Putnam, Dutchess

DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Support Connection, Inc.-- a not-for profit organization that provides free, confidential support services for people affected by breast and ovarian cancer -- has three support groups scheduled for next month in Dutchess and Putnam.

Support Connection offers a wide range of free support groups for women with breast and ovarian cancer. The groups focus on topics pertaining to living with cancer through all stages of diagnosis, treatment and post-treatment, according to a release from Support Connection.

The groups are offered in Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess, and by toll-free teleconference.

The following is the schedule for the support  groups planned in April:

  • The East Fishkill Community Library -- 10:15 a.m., Tuesday, April 11, at 348 Route 376, Hopewell Junction.
  • Putnam Hospital Center -- 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, at 670 Stoneleigh Ave., Carmel.
  • Vassar Brothers Medical Center -- 7 p.m., Thursday, April 27, at 45 Reade Pl., Poughkeepsie.

For those who are unable to attend groups in person, there are monthly Telephone Support Groups via toll-free teleconference, enabling women to participate regardless of their location and from the comfort of their homes.

Call a few days ahead to learn how to participate. The Advanced Stage or Metastatic Breast Cancer Telephone Group will take place on Monday, April 3, at 8 p.m. EST. The Ovarian Cancer Telephone Group will take place on Wednesday, April 12, at 8 p.m. EST.
