The North Salem Historical Society held its annual meeting at the new Croton Falls Firehouse recently, focusing the event on the hamlet's deep history.

Described as a “unique venue” for the meeting that’s “indicative of how far Croton Falls has progressed,” the firehouse hosted talks from Cynthia Curtis, president of the Historical Society, and several longtime residents, according to a statement from the historical organization.

Drew Outhouse, Bob Tompkins and Ray Furlan – who have each lived in Croton Falls for decades – told stories about growing up in the hamlet, which was a rural community in the 1950s.

The stories elicited multiple responses from audience members, who shared their own recollections, according to the Historical Society.

Anyone interested in joining the North Salem Historical Society should visit the organization’s website.
