How Should North Salem Fill Its Empty Retail Space?

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – The Salem Center and Croton Falls business districts, like many others in Westchester, have suffered in the economic downturn. With an eye toward the future, The North Salem Daily Voice asked local residents what sorts of businesses they would like to see in the empty retail spaces.

Most people have their minds on refreshments of some kind. Heather Buzzetto said a local food store would be convenient, and Alex Rubeo agreed.

Rebecca Evans said, “I third the motion. A little grocery store, all the basics and necessities, charging a fair price, not 'Westchester' prices, just because they can.”

Jean Jerussi said a Dunkin' Donuts would hit the spot, and Kenneth Adams agreed, specifying, “A 24-hour Dunkin' Donuts for the volunteers and the highway department.”
