Irvington Ufsd Tech Director Abruptly Resigns

An educator at a school district in Westchester is out of a job after abruptly resigning last week.

The Irvington Board of Education announced that at its Tuesday, Jan. 22 meeting that it was reviewing “what appeared to be discrepancies associated with the record of a particular employee." On Sunday, they announced that the employee in question has been identified as Jesse Lubinsky,” the district’s Director of Technology and Innovation.

According to Board of Education President Michael Hanna and Superintendent Kristopher Harrison, prior to the completion of the review, Lubinsky submitted his resignation on Thursday, Jan. 24 and it was accepted at a special meeting the following day.

“Through his roles as both a former teacher and administrator, Mr. Lubinsky’s enthusiasm for teaching and learning positively impacted a great number of students and families in the district,” they wrote in a statement. “We fully recognize and appreciate the reactions of concern from staff, students and community members, and we are focused on addressing this unforeseen departure in a manner that will be in the best interests of our students.”

On his website, Lubinsky wrote, "Jesse is the Director of Technology & Innovation and Chief Information Officer for the Irvington Union-Free School District in Irvington. Prior to entering education, he was a technology consultant for Fortune 500 companies specializing in network engineering and software development projects. In 2009, he was published in the book 'High-Tech Teaching Success!' by Prufrock Press. He was named one of BestCollegeRankings.org’s 100 Top Experts in #eLearning and #EdTech as well as a Top 100 K12 Tech Leader and Top 100 Most Social CIO by Extreme Networks."

Officials noted that the review of Lubinsky is ongoing, led by the Board of Educations lawyers.
