On Monday, Stony Point Police Lt. Keith Williams announced that Tompkins Cove resident Austin Parks, 45, was charged with fourth-degree aggravated harassment after he was warned not to be in contact with one victim and violently lashed out against another.
According to police, on Monday, Dec. 5, Parks was arrested following an investigation that revealed that he intentionally damaged his victim’s car by slashing one of its tires. In a separate incident, it was uncovered that Parks had intentionally harassed a second victim by calling them several times, despite being warned by police not to do so.
New York state harassment law says an individual is guilty of the offense if the suspect makes a communication to cause annoyance or alarm; threatens to strike, kick or shove another, or participates in a course of alarming conduct or repeated committed acts with the intention of alarming an individual.
Parks has been arrested and arraigned on harassment charges and remains remanded to the Rockland County Correctional Facility in lieu of cash bail.
