Shortly before midnight in Patchogue on Friday, Nov. 1, Sheriff’s deputies stopped Ronkonkoma resident Salvadora Vaz on Waverly Avenue after she was spotted failing to yield at the traffic circle.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Vaz “demonstrated clues while performing standardized field sobriety tests indicating she was intoxicated.” A breathalyzer later found that her blood alcohol content was .10 percent, above the legal limit.

Vaz was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated at the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office in Riverhead. She is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to respond to the charge.
