THIELLS, N.Y. -- Maria C. Garigali, of Thiells, died on Dec. 7. She was 94.
She was born on Aug. 21, 1922 in Limina, Italy to Francesco and Carmela Correnti. She married the love of her life Sebastiano in Italy in 1945. They immigrated to the US with their children in 1961. Her husband predeceased her in 1974. She was a seamstress and homemaker. She loved cooking, baking cookies and making her famous lasagna. Her children and grandchildren were her whole world.
Besides her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her brother Antonio Correnti. She is survived by her five loving children, Josephine Savino, Mary (Franco) Niosi, Dr. Frank (Sandra) Garigali, Theresa (Anthony) Torres, Donna (Anthony) Imperato; her grandchildren, Benny, Frank, Lisa, Anthony, Michael, Jessica, Nicholas, Anthony, Sabrina and Brittany; and her great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jake, Priya and Sebastian.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Maria on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 10 a.m. at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church, Garnerville, with entombment to follow at Ferncliff Mausoleum in Harstdale. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may donate in her memory to St. Jude Childrens’ Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
